The Spritual Exercises

The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola were written out of the experience of God. He designed the Nineteenth Annotation in order to provide an opportunity for persons who were not able to go on a secluded 30-day retreat. In this way persons can experience the Spirtual Exercises in daily life.

The Spiritual Exercises are an instrument to help persons come to freedom—a realised, existential freedom– freedom with oneself, and freedom within oneself– an ultimate freedom– that which accompanies deep awareness of the ultimate meaning of one’s life, which is a life lived for the greater glory of God.
